Bed Bugs – How They Enter Our Homes and How to Eliminate Them
Bed bugs cause unnecessary annoyance to family members in numerous households. These bugs are notorious bloodsuckers and have a liking for warm blooded animals like cats, dogs and humans, with humans being their first choice. Furthermore, eradicating them is not simple at all and it warrants a serious bug control drive to remove them.
Travellers are most of the times responsible for transportation of bed bugs, and once these bugs adapt to new surroundings, they reproduce very fast. Holes and cracks in room furniture and carpets are the best places for bed bugs to take sanctuary in and thrive.
A common myth about bed bugs is that they multiply because of lack of cleanliness, but nothing can be farther from the truth. It must be remembered that blood and not waste is what invites these bugs and thus a clean house is not enough to get rid of them. However, if the surroundings are kept sanitized, then the pests can be easily detected.
That bed bugs are too small to be visible without any visual aid is another mistaken belief. In fact, these creatures can be spotted without any difficulty, yet we rarely see them because they have flat bodies that help them vanish easily in narrow cracks of furniture or folds of cloth.
One of the simplest ways to remove bed bugs is to hire an knowledgeable pest controller who can disinfect the house of these pests. Of course some home solutions do fight bed bugs, like cleaning bed sheets, carpets and other infested items of clothing in hot water and afterwards putting them out to dry in the sun. Crevices in the walls should be closed with a sealant, and any piece of furniture that has holes should be removed as they can turn into potential habitats for these pests.
